Colour in the home can be a little intimidating, but it can also be the feature that makes the home. Making bold statements with wall colours is pretty easy, but making bold colour statements with fixtures, railings and backsplash art can be very dramatic, especially with a very austere neutral backdrop.
The Kitchen below was recently featured in Design Lines Magazine. The home was designed by Doreen Landow, who commissioned artists Reale Born to create a beautiful backsplash of the London Tube, complete with Led lights marking the stations. Not only is it a very bold colour statement, it is also a functional piece of art.
The home below was recently featured in City Homes magazine. The Designers, The Practice of Everyday Design, were very calculating about where to inject colour. They used a beautiful cobalt blue faucet and repeated the same colour on the handrail in the otherwise neutral interior. When used so sparingly and methodically, they become very striking feautures in the home.
The VOLA HV1 faucet shown below was designed in 1968 for the National Bank of Denmark by the Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. The company recently launched the faucet with a range of colours so that you, too, may be more daring and playful with your bathroom design.
